ANCIENT WISDOM - SACRED GROUND GATHERING 2008

 





East Zion, Utah

We invite you to join us among the majestic Navajo sandstone cliffs next to Zion National Park, the aromatic sage and juniper, and the starlit sky of the desert Southwest. Immerse yourself in a five-day journey to explore and experience ceremonies for deepening our connection with animals and the sacred in our lives. Lodging will be provided in the main lodge of the Clear Creek Ranch, a 1000-acre ranch just 2 miles east of Zion National Park off of Highway 9.

*These ceremonies are optional, are not part of the formal gathering program, and according to tradition, are not charged for.

 

 

 

 


GATHERING INSTRUCTORS:

MARTIN TYNER , is the founder of Southwest Wildlife Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide wildlife rehabilitation and wildlife and environmental education.  Martin is a federally licensed raptor educator, rehabilitator, propagator, master falconer and eagle falconer.  He cares for sick and injured wildlife with the goal of releasing them back into the wild.

GLENDORA HOMER , is a Native Paiute who honors her ancestors with her teachings about early Paiute life in the desert.  Her wisdom with regard to native plants and their traditional usage represents her deep connection and respect of the land.

BRENDA EDWARDS DOMYAN is the author of "Voices in the Canyon" and honors the ancient spirits of the land through her writings.  She is a facilitator of healing through drumming, ceremonies, women's circles, and homeopathy. Brenda coordinates events for the RiverWind Foundation as well as for women's groups.

DAVID BEARCLAW ABRAMS is a Cherokee elder, Ceremonialist, Pipe Carrier, and Sun Dancer. As a Ceremonialist, Grandfather Bearclaw serves the people through pipe ceremonies, spirit naming, purification lodge, Vision Quests, Medicine Wheel ceremonies, traditional Native American weddings, and spirit journeys.

TERESA JACKSON is a Reiki Master, Healing Touch Practitioner, and holder and teacher of sacred space who works with humans, animals, and plants, conveying the energies of the Earth. Teresa follows the Native American teachings and is a Sun Dancer and Pipe Carrier.

ALAN WILLES is a song keeper and drum maker who travels around the world collecting songs that help build community. Mitakuye Oyasin is the unifying theme that infuses his joyful and powerful gifts of songs, drumming, and dancing. Alan's passion, vision and calling in life is to help people to start drumming, singing and dancing on the earth again. He attends and helps to sponsor many dances.

TIMOTHY O'DONOGHUE is the Founder & Director of the RiverWind Foundation. He is a teacher and practitioner of a variety of subjects and arts related to our soulful and spiritual relationships in Nature, drawing from his personal transformative experiences as well as his Celtic and Native American roots and traditions. Timothy's workshops and courses include but are not limited to The Rose Road: Living Native American and Christian Spirituality, 12 Steps to Living Simply & Sustainably, Ecological Empathy, and Finding and Manifesting Personal Vision.

LENNY DOMYAN is the caretaker of Angels Rest at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. He honors the spirits of animals that have crossed over and comforts their human companions through ceremony.

JAY HENDERSON is a modern-day John Muir who communes with Nature through his many mountain spiritual experiences and explorations. He is passionate in his expressions of love and reverence for all things wild through his artwork and storytelling.

MIKE SATTER is the President of Grand Staircase Escalante Partners, the non-profit organization that provides support for the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.  In 2007, he received the Bureau of Land Management's "Making a Difference Award" in Washington, DC.  As an amateur astronomer, Mike presents astronomy basics weaved with Native American stories.

 


REGISTRATION FEE: $795 if paid in full and postmarked by December 31, 2007; $855 if postmarked by February 15, 2008; and $895 if postmarked after February 15, 2008. The registration fee includes all Gathering activities, meals, and lodging for 5 nights and days from dinner on Monday through lunch on Saturday. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be served. The Clear Creek Ranch's accommodations are limited and this gathering promises to fill quickly. Couples, please sign up early! Please indicate your roommate preferences on the registration form. The Clear Creek Ranch will provide bedding and bathroom linens. A confirmation letter will be sent to you via email or regular mail within two weeks of receipt of your registration.

Refunds: All requests for refunds must be made in writing.  A refund check, minus a $50 processing fee, will be issued for all written cancellation requests postmarked by February 15, 2008.  No refunds will be made for requests postmarked after February 15, 2008.
